Happy Valentine's Day

A treat for you all. Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in An Affair to Remember.

The final scene: he is bitter and resentful because she stood him up 6 months earlier, when they arranged to meet on top of The Empire State Building. He doesn't realise she did turn up, but was splattered by a taxi en-route and is now (gasp) a cripple!

I love Cary Grant. What a beautiful man he was. Maybe he needs to be my romantic benchmark for 2010: grown-up, sophisticated and honorable. Sardonic, flaky reprobate Walter Matthau begone!!!

  1. I am the Ice Queen! It's too twee and dated for me. Can't relate to it-sorry!

  2. I'm sure 60 years ago or whenever the film was made it was poignant and moving but time has not stood still thankfully. Men and women are much less wishy washy. Independent strong women not lily livered ladies who look glamourous but have no back bone. I'm glad we don't live in the 'old days'-can't imagine anything more dull! Lying around, waiting for things to happen in your life instead of taking an active role in it and making things happen for yourself. Miss Underscore you are not a couch potato?
